Cyber Monday Shopping Tips

After record-setting Black Friday sales, today is expected to be the largest online shopping day in history.  According to data from IBM Benchmark, today's Cyber Monday shopping sales are up 20% from last year.  But today just isn't a big day for sales, it's also a big day for identity theft.  

A local business offers some tips for protecting yourself as you come across too-good-to-be-true offers:  

Tip 1: Exit pop-ups.  Retailers don't advertise through them.  

Tip 2: Ignore suspicious e-mails.  Retailers don't perform transactions through your inbox.  

Tip 3: Make sure you enter your payment information on a website that begins with "https" rather "http". The extra "s" indicates security. 

Remember, as you're looking for those great deals, scammers are looking for you.
