Lashawn King was sentenced to life in prison without parole for attempted murder of his ex girlfriend.

But before that sentence was handed down, the court debated how much restitution King would have to pay the victim, Melissa Benson.

Prosecutors said King was literally caught red handed with blood all over his hands and under his finger nails.

Police say Benson was beaten with a hammer by King outside Studio City.

He then kidnapped her for more than an hour and a half as she begged for her life.

Benson managed to dial 911.

And today, Melissa Benson addressed the court and King, her ex boyfriend, sobbing and saying she is the voice for domestic violence victims.

She also said she did forgive King so she could move on with her life and heal from her physical and mental wounds.

Along with the life sentence without parole, King was ordered to pay nearly $30,000 in restitution to the victim, Melissa Benson.
