Wildfire Grows to Nearly 1,000 Acres
A wildfire burning in northern Albany County has grown to almost 1,000 acres. At this time, the blaze is zero percent contained.
Fire officials believe the fire, which is burning about five miles southeast of Laramie Peak in the Medicine Bow National Forest, was started by lightening Sunday evening.
120 crew members are on scene, including one helicopter. An air tanker and three fire tankers have been dispatched as well and were in route to the blaze Tuesday afternoon. The US forest service says they are hopeful they will be able to contain the blaze, but conditions are currently not ideal.
As of Tuesday afternoon, no structures were threatened, but there are 10 structures within two miles of the fire.
