Investigators say the man charged with kidnapping and assaulting an 11-year old Cody girl in October has confessed to the crime.
A Gallatin County, Montana detective wrote in court documents that Jesse Speer provided information about the specifics of the abduction, including that a bag was put over the girl's head. Speer was arrested near his home in Manhattan Montana, almost a week after the girl was lured into the kidnapper's vehicle.
Authorities say Speer told the girl that he needed help finding a lost puppy. The girl was later released, and was found by hunters along a mountain road west of Cody.
Speer faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and using a gun in commission of a felony. He is being held in the Park County jail in Cody on a $2 million bond.
