Former Casper Mayor Commits Suicide

Natrona County Coroner Connie Jacobsen says former Casper mayor Larry Clapp died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found yesterday afternoon, along a walking trail near crossroads park.
Clapp was facing charges of child pornography possession, and appeared in court back in October.
He was Casper's mayor in 1988 and served as a state legislator as well. Clapp was also a well known attorney before his arrest.
After months of investigation, Clapp was arrested in October when authorities traced multiple files of suspected child pornography to his home computer in South Casper. Those files were linked to an external hard drive, where authorities discovered more than 100 movie files with names that appeared to be child pornography related.
Jacobsen has ruled out the involvement of anyone else in Clapp's death.
