Extra Security Ahead of Social Bills

Ahead of debates on contentious issues including guns, abortion and civil unions, legislative leaders have brought in extra security at the Capitol building. 
 
House Speaker Tom Lubnau says he intentionally scheduled debate on the social issues in order to minimize the cost of that security.

Meanwhile, a bill that would allow domestic partnerships for same sex couples in Wyoming was given approval in a committee vote Monday afternoon. The measure now heads to the House floor for debate. 
 
The House Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Committee earlier rejected another bill that would have permitted gay marriages. 
 
Still, gay rights activists applauded the vote on the domestic partnership bill. Opponents cited religious objections to both bills.
