A star University of Wyoming basketball player, who allegedly kicked a man in the head during a bar fight in Laramie, waived his preliminary hearing in court set for Monday.
Senior Luke Martinez is out on a $25,000 signature bond on a felony aggravated assault charge.
According to a police affidavit, Martinez admitted to kicking a downed man in the head, who lay defenseless during the December 30th altercation at the Buckhorn bar in Laramie. A witness to the alleged 'kick' said that it made them sick to their stomach and that Martinez had kicked the victim like he was a football.
The 22 year-old must meet with both his attorney and the UW Athletic Department three times a week, and stay away from bars. Martinez broke his hand in the fight and he has been suspended indefinitely.
His court date in district court is to be determined.
