The Wyoming Retirement System has fired its chief investment officer following federal insider trading charges that come from before he took the state position.
Retirement System Executvie Director Thomas Williams says he dismissed John Johnson of Arvada Colorado from his current job. Last month, the Securities and Exchange Commission filed charges against Johnson.
He is accused of buying shares in a technology company, after a friend had tipped him off that it was about to be sold. Johnson reportedly made about $136,000 on the deal. Federal prosecutors in New York say Johnson has also pleaded guilty to fraud charges related to the same transaction.
