Gov. Mead Fights Child Abuse

by Cassandra Hager,

Governor Matt Mead has proclaimed April as "Child Abuse Prevention Month."
At a press conference in the Capitol Rotunda today, statewide partners called attention to the importance of prevention and intervention in fighting child abuse crimes in Wyoming.

Mead urged everyone in the state to do their part to reduce child abuse and neglect.
He says there were 718 cases of child abuse and neglect in the state in 2011 and says the state can obviously do better.

According to the National Children's Alliance, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. 75% of those victims are under the age of 11.
