A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit from a Colorado woman who sued a catholic church in Casper. On Monday, US District Judge Alan Johnson dismissed the sexual-abuse lawsuit against St. Anthony's Church.
Filed last year, the woman claimed that a deacon at the church imposed a sexual relationship on her after she went to him for counseling. The lawsuit claimed that the relationship started in 2007 and lasted about a year.
Judge Johnson ruled that the church wasn't responsible for any sexual abuse because it would be outside the scope of the deacon's employment. He also said that a sexual relationship is something the church could not anticipate.
