The Cheyenne area took the brunt of a May Day snowstorm that brought over a foot of snow to the Capital City. The storm shut down schools across the area and even forced Laramie County Community College to close its doors. Several businesses opened later than usual as well.
Interstate 80 from Cheyenne to Laramie was closed for several hours on Wednesday, but later reopened to traffic.
The heavy snow also brought down some tree branches and caused scattered power outages.
The storm, the latest installment in a series of recent spring storms, began on Tuesday and was expected to last until Wednesday night. Snow totals in Casper ranged from 3-7 inches while parts of Fremont County saw 10-16 inches. Casper mountain received up to 5 inches of snow.
