All of us know how important school is for our children and how important attendance is.

In Wheatland, however, one mother says that the school district is taking its attendance policy too seriously. So seriously, that her 9-year-old son is now on probation for missing several days of school. The mother claims that all of those absences were for medical reasons and were excused by the school.

K2 News spoke with the family:

Superintendent Fischer tells K2 News that the Platte County School board will be reviewing the district's attendance policy.

Brandy Cain, meanwhile, says that she has met several other parents whose children were also placed on probation due to excessive absences. K2 has not been able to independently verify that claim.
