What would have been a game changer for the oil city has been killed in a 4-to-1 vote. The Wyoming state loan and investment board has denied the 35-million dollar plan for a new conference center here in Casper. This vote came as a big surprise to everyone, as Casper has worked on this plan for twelve years, and had already approved more than 15 million in grants and loans toward the construction of this center. The convention and visitors bureau has conducted a study saying that the new conference center would be a 10 million dollar re generator of cash annually. Being the center of the state, this would attract new conferences, shopping as well as meal services and when this went to a vote today the board shot it down, shocking many who were looking forward to this new addition to downtown.
