A Wyoming college student fell to his death after consuming a marijuana cookie. The victim was a student at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. 19 year old Levy Thamba died after jumping off a balcony of a Denver hotel, during his spring break in early March. An autopsy report reveals he died from the fall, but also lists marijuana intoxication as a contributing factor to his death. Thamba's marijuana concentration was 7.2 nanograms of active THC. Colorado state law sets a standard of 5 nanograms in impaired driving cases. Thamba is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa and enrolled at Northwest College in January as an engineer major. His death was felt across the entire campus, school officials released a statemnet saying, "The Northwest College Campus Community continues to grieve after levy's death....all of us were deeply saddened by this tragic incident and feel for his family." Thamba's death is the first publicized fatality since recreational marijuana sales became legal in Colorado in January.
