CASPER POLICE DEPARTMENT IS TAKING EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. CPD PUT ON A SIMULATED WATER RESCUE WEDNESDAY FOR THE PUBLIC UNVEILING ITS NEWEST ADDITION, A DRONE. THE FLYING GADGET WILL BE USED TO HELP OFFICIALS DURING HIGH INTENSE SITUATIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, WATER RESCUES AND VEHICLE CRASHES WHERE OFFICERS TYPICALLY HAVE LITTLE TO NO VIEWS OF THE INCIDENT TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. A DRONE, WHICH WORKS OFF OF GPS WILL AID OFFICIALS SPECIFICALLY BY GIVING OFFICERS OVERHEAD VIEWS AS HIGH AS 400 FEET.
