Operation Christmas Child for Underprivileged

Christmas time is typically about gift giving and receiving. Operation Christmas Child all about the giving.

Families gathered for a "packing party" for Operation Christmas Child at the Highland Church in Casper.   OCC provides Christmas presents for underprivileged children in over 130 countries across the world, so they can have something to open on Christmas day.

Kids from all over Casper came to the "packing party."  They would take an empty shoe box and fill it with things that they would like to get on Christmas, like mini basketballs and dolls, plus some essentials too like tooth brushes and clothing.  You can also put a picture and personalized letter in the box so you can have the hope that whoever receives the box can one day respond to you.

Now this was just a packing party, there is a national collection week from Nov. 14th to 21st.  You can log onto www.samaritanspurse.org to see all the drop off locations which are all over Wyoming.  The goal for northeastern Wyoming this Christmas season is to top 5,000 boxes.  Last year's worldwide total was nearly 8.2 million boxes.
