Dreams do come true, I know this because I am living my childhood dream. A little bit about me, I was born in a small town, and I lived in a small town. (Recognize those lyrics? I grew up in the same town where John Mellencamp was born and raised. Heck we even went to the same High School!)
I got bit by the "Weather Bug" Early and became fascinated with it at the age of 4. I remember being very curious about storms, but being scared at the same time and running into my mom and dad's room to hide in the closet, but at the same time, I would still peak out and watch them, only to run away again. (Kind of like how you take a bite of something, and it tastes extremely horrible, and then you do it again anyway to remind yourself how horrible it tasted? Kind of like that.) That fear turned into a passion and I would be glued to the the TV and looked forward to listening to the forecast.
I became a Weather Watcher at WLKY-TV, The CBS affiliate in Louisville, KY at the age of 12, giving weather reports on the weekend, and eventually picked up wanting to storm chase, and did so as I got older. Let's just say my 1998 Buick Skylark saw its fair share of Hail Damage.
I graduated in 2012 with my Bachelor's of Atmospheric Sciences, but while finishing up my college studies, I got my first on air gig doing radio at WXKU/WZZB. There, I covered everything from pool parties to the county fairs, did news, and of course, did weather on the weekends. I did that until April 2014 when I accepted the job here at KTWO as the Chief Meteorologist.
I am a Member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association and have attended numerous meetings across the country with several meteorologists discussing anything from technology to forecasting.
In my spare time, you can find me somewhere outdoors enjoying this beautiful state. During the summer, you can probably find me on a lake or hiking , or on the ski slopes (or sledding somewhere) during the winter. If I am not doing one of those, you will find me spending some quality time with my son Mason. *Fingers crossed he follows in my footsteps. Who knows, he may replace me here!*
If you see me out and about please feel free to say hi! I would love to chat with you!
